THE SPYGLASS
outside, looking in, inside, looking out
each eye is a seeker, a watcher without
double vision, a spyglass amused by his kin
interiors exteriors of the house within
an optical tracker of a magical song,
staying to wonder what would come along
“I’m all attention, captain”

THE OUTPOST
climbed up the tallest tree
until there, right up near the sun,
bright, inviting and alive,
the outpost, encircled in the trees tugs hinted-magic,
of glorious light, of elves and dwarfs even of winged wolves,
a favored spot
“home is behind, the world ahead”

THE WITCH HIDE
sermons in stone, the moon really said that
fee-fie-foe-fesh, it’s true a fireplace and apple cider frothing
with cinnamon, the smell of burning wood, warm windows
pick up the ladder, fold and take it in
as a thunder and a storm, make up the cloud that takes it’s form
“thou art mine, and I am thine”
CHECK IT OUT
THE BARREL
strolling from one end of the platform to the other
that whole stretch of sky and sea
the line of the horizon changing color,
in shades of red and purple of a tree
no troubled dreams, but blissful fluster
of moving cracking swishing harmony
“round in a fiery ring, went the great sun, o King”
